AUTOCRACY–DEMOCRACY ” the real world “

There comes a time in relationships between nations that countries that practice DEMOCRACY have to take risks. That is the state of affairs now when Vlladamir Putin the ruler of Russia, and yes he went through an election which for all intents and purposes was rigged in his favour,  in my opinion if he did not gain the necessary votes  Putin would not have relinquished power. It has become the new normal, that even dictatorships are expected to achieve  credence that their power is “kosher” and they sit in the pinnacle of the elected structure by the votes of the people.  It is as if even though we do not see human beings breathe, we all know in order to live they must take in air and get oxygen.

So what risks are the democracies facing?  Putin has attacked Ukraine, a democratic country by any definition of democracy.  Ukraine is not perfect and as a person who calls himself “Jewish” I am well aware  that of all the countries of Europe, the Ukrainian people helped very willingly in the slaughter of Jews under the supervision of the German Nazis during the Second World War.  But that is all history.   All the countries of Europe with the exception of former Soviet republics, and it seems with no coercion,  began sending arms to Ukraine and willingly broke off commercial relationships with Putin’s Russia even though it cost them money.  I refer to Spain, Sweden, Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland, the Czech Republic,  Germany,  Greece, Portugal and Romania. I also must not forget that the  U.S.A. is involved in a major way. The states in Europe involved were all democracies and situated very close to Russia. I used to call Russia, the Soviet Union but after the Second World War many of these states in the old Soviet Union, most with their own languages, broke off to become independent countries.  Among them is Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgystan and Tajikhstan. If you notice none of the former Soviet Union states broke off relationships with Russia and  sent arms to Ukraine. There is good reason for this. Putin has a dream that he was born to begin the formation of the old Soviet Union again. For him it is a dream, for the other states of the old Russia it is a nightmare. Putin dreams of reforming the old Soviet union and becoming like one of the old Tsars of  Russia in medieval Europe. Because of nuclear weapons and the fear of a nuclear war, all  countries are afraid of taking on Putin`s Russia.  It used to be that no country was willing to take on Great Britain, France, the USA, China and the Soviet Union but with China and Russia becoming rogue states where do we go to eliminate a nuclear holocaust?  China andRussia are using the threat of a nuclear war to get away with whatever they see as in their interests. China is threatening Taipei and taking over islands not belonging to them and calling the South China Sea their territory and Putin making all the former Soviet republics fear for their ability to remain free countries. It is a dangerous world we live in and the nuclear situation has turned everything topsy-turvy.  All the countries that took on China and Russia are democracies. The countries that do not get involved are Cuba, North Korea, Turkey, Pakistan and Syria, all dictatorships. So instead of only preventing war, the nuclear bomb allows China and Russia to do their dirty work again for fear of a nuclear war.
