AUTHORITARIANISM vs DEMOCRACY
In my lifetime there was only one dictator who made his mark in the world. That of course was Adolf Hitler, but to be honest Joseph Stalin came a close second. I mention him even though he was our ally in the second world war, and if the Germans had not attacked the Soviet Union he probably would have fought on Hitler`s side. Hitler had a fixation on JEWS and COMMUNISM and this led to the second world war and the terror that followed. To this day, I am not sure the allies would have won the war, without the help of the Soviet state.
If you have read some of my entries to this blog in the past, you would have found one blog that discussed SELF-INTEREST, POWER, HYPOCRICY and LYING. That is my description of human beings, religions, states, businesses and anything else that describes the activities of people anywhere in the world. Whether you live in a Democracy or a Fascist state , the citizens or the apparatuses under which the state operates are nearly completely the same. But there is one major difference. The democracies MUST by law have elections, not fair and perfect but more than the autocracies. In a democracy the leader can lose, sometimes very badly. There is a prevalent idea in the entire world that even fixed elections MUST be held. The dictator will be able to say, he had an election, but because the election is not fair the dictator does not have the worry about losing it.
But before I delve into the nuts and bolts of this blog I want to make sure that you understand what I am trying to present. No matter the status of the individual , rich or poor ,the country western or Asian, the religion, the corporation they are all the same. They act and think only of themselves. Now this does not mean that they never do the right thing with and whomever they are involved with. Of course they do. But it benefits themselves as well as the recipient of their largesse . Before I discuss the countries and democracy, which is the whole point of this piece, I want to relate an incident with the London England police force. Just recently many officers of all ranks were suspended for mistreating Blacks, Asians Trans people, put bacon in the boats of Muslim officers, and the highest ranked officers moved women officers of lower rank around from urban stations to rural stations. Maybe the woman caught the eye of an officer and he thought that he would have a little sex. Why the London police did this is beyond my ken. But if police can do this, what can ordinary citizens with free will do.
Now let us compare the authoritarian countries and democracies. Look at the situation in UKRAINE. Russia has attacked Crimea and to be completely honest it took place because of Putin. Putin has a fixation on taking back Russia to an earlier state when it was a significant power and he cares very little about the Russian soldiers that are killed in battle. He attacked Transnistria from (1992 to present time) called Moldova, as well as Abkhazia (2000 to present ) called Georgia . Now Putin is attacking Crimea which was part of the Ukraine. When Putin got to Ukraine the democracies around Ukraine got the message as well as many other European counties like Germany and France and the UK and even the USA and Canada. Why didn’t the democracies act sooner. Because the people could vote and to lose soldiers for a faraway state was not in their countries or personal interest. And even now these democracies send arms but not soldiers. I want to point out to you that the countries that support Russia in the attack on Crimea are the following Nicaragua, Venezuela, Syria, Afghanistan and North Korea and possibly China. What is common among these states. None of them is democratic with reasonably fair election. The United Nations does democracy no favors. They will remain as is, any country with recognized borders can join. It is imperative that the democracies band together and send help , with equipment and even soldiers to help one another. A separate organization with their own budget must be formed to save our democratic countries from oblivion NOW. It can be called DUN, the “Democratic United Nations ” What a great name!!
