Lies and Anti-Semitism A Common Occurrence

Recently I saw a documentary called “Paris 1919” which was a movie version of a book by Margaret MacMillan of the same name. It describes the negotiations and machinations of the leaders of 30 countries which eventually culminated in the signing of the Versailles Peace Treaty between Germany and the victorious allies. Of special interest to me in particular was the statement that 500,000 Jewish citizens of Germany fought for their country in the Great War and that part of the negotiating team for the Germans were two Jewish bankers. Having bankers at the negotiations was natural because the treaty was all about reparations and money. But “Jewish Bankers”! I am sure that the other bankers were not referred to as Christian bankers, but the statement found its way into the text, probably inadvertently, by Macmillan because it seems so natural to put the Jews in charge of money . This is a perpetuation of the myth that Jews control the financial world and all money. I did not know that 500,000 Jews fought for Germany in the Great War. Hitler’s vicious statements that the Jews were responsible for Germany’s defeat and did not play a part in the war are shown to be blatantly untrue. It was well known that Jews were very loyal Germans. Lies, lies, and more lies represent the interaction between the anti-Semites of the world and the Jewish people whether rich bankers or poor people living in modest circumstances in Russia.

I do not know the exact circumstances surrounding the death of Jesus Christ, but for certain the people who called Jews his killers are equally in the dark. There was no written history of the event at the time, and aside from conclusions written many years after the event, academic students remain uncertain as to what really happened. What is certain is that Jesus Christ, teacher and healer, was crucified on the orders of Pontius Pilate on charges of sedition against the Roman Empire. Even if some Jewish religious leaders brought evidence against Christ to Pontius Pilate,is that any reason to punish generations of people who had nothing to do with the act. Many years later it was in the interests of the Christian Church to blame Jews, as it saw itself as the successor religion to Judaism, and it was politically expedient to do so.

Recently an historic ruling in a Russian court has pronounced the infamous “Protocols of the Elders of Zion” an anti-Semitic forgery- the first such verdict in the land where the fraud originated 90 years ago. Contemporary evidence shows that the protocols were written by Czar Nicholas 11`s secret police in 1903. As much as 60% of the document is a bold plagiarism from an Anti-Semitic tract published in France around that time. The Jews supposedly had an agreement to destroy the Christian civilization. The absurdity of the idea considering the relative number of Jews and Christians in the world is apparent.

Talk about lies! Alfred Dreyfus a Jew and a French military officer was implicated in a political scandal which divided France in the 1890`s and early 1900`s. It involved the conviction for treason in November 1894 of Captain Alfred Dreyfus, a young French artillery officer of Alsatian Jewish descent. Sentenced to life imprisonment for allegedly having communicated French military secrets to the German embassy in Paris, Dreyfus was sent to the penal colony at Devil’s Island in French Guiana and placed in solitary confinement.

Two years later, in 1896, evidence came to light identifying a French Army major named Ferdinand Walsin Esterhazy as the real culprit. However, high-ranking military officials suppressed this new evidence and Esterhazy was unanimously acquitted after the second day of his trial in military court. Instead of being exonerated, Alfred Dreyfus was further accused on the basis of false documents fabricated by French counter-intelligence officers seeking to re-confirm his conviction.

Word of the military court’s framing of Alfred Dreyfus and of an attendant cover-up began to spread, largely due to a vehement public protestation in a Paris newspaper by writer Emile Zola, in January 1898. The case had to be re-opened and Alfred Dreyfus was brought back from Guiana in 1899 to be tried again. The intense political and judicial scandal that ensued divided French society between those who supported Dreyfus (the Dreyfusards) and those who condemned him, the (Anti Dreyfusards) such as the Anti -Semitic newspaper La Libre Parole, and Hubert-Joseph Henry.

Eventually, all the accusations against Alfred Dreyfus were demonstrated to be baseless. Dreyfus was exonerated and reinstated as a major in the French Army in 1906. He later served during the whole of World War I, ending his service with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. 

An enduring method of delegitimizing Israel is to make it a dangerous place for non-Jews especially  Christians. Anti-Zionists will screw up the numbers of Christians in Israel when in fact since 1948/49  the numbers have been increasing.

1. Israel  is the one country in the middle east where the indigenous population of Christians is increasing.
2. Muslim governments in the middle east have a long history of oppressing Christians and other minorities like the Yazidis .
3.  Coptics  ( a Christian sect) in Egypt   are constantly harassed .                                                                          

The Palestinian Authority (PA) seems to have made an intense study of the life and ideas of Joseph Goebbels, Reich Minister of Propaganda in Nazi Germany. Goebbels perfected the technique of the “Big Lie”, which is based on the principle that a lie, if audacious enough and repeated enough, will be believed by the masses. And certainly nothing is more audacious than the concept that the Jews are newcomers to the Middle East. In the Old Testament the ancient capitol of Israel is mentioned over 600 times. In the Koran it is not mentioned at all. Ahmed Qureia, the chief Palestinian negotiator at the 2007 Annapolis Peace Conference was quoted as saying that the Jewish Temples never existed at all and Israel has been working to invent a connection to Jerusalem. The PA in recent television programs has included the notions that the Hebrews of the Bible have no connection to the Jews of to-day, the Hebrews of the bible were Arabs, the prophets of the bible were Muslims, and that the Jews of to-day are descendents of a 13th century Khazar tribe with no history in the Middle East.

No lie is too far-fetched to fall on deaf ears. The Anti-Semites of the world are there, ready willing and able to pass on the misinformation
