Happy Fathers Day Dad!! Murray Rubin, I could write a book or three about you. The child of poor Jewish immigrants from Poland raised by a divorced single mom( and your Bubbie) who discovered while pregnant that the marriage match was not going to work out. You headed off to kindergarten at Orde St. Public school with your big personality packed into your little body, speaking only Yiddish. But once you learned  English and attended Harbord Collegiate it was look out world . So many shenanigans, practical and impractical  jokes, successes, risks, adventures, so much making all of us crazy, a boatload  of criticism , doled out very evenly across the family, random and constant generosity, opinions you are unable to keep to yourself, blog posts on everything from dental implants to feminism to transgender issues, an open mind, a closed mind, ideas, (about a million a year), great politics, more opinions, crappy politics, more opinions, lack of listening skills, voracious reading and consumption of information. One of the things that makes me proudest of you Dad is that you're always learning and evolving. Of course your shifts in opinion have come on your own terms and rarely (much to my disappointment) through our yelling matches. And while you've often characterized me as some " radical lefty". I hardly qualify (I'm still working on it). We have never been closer in how we see the world and our hopes for it. I love you Dad. May we continue annoying each other for years to come Xox

Name of author

Name: Murray Rubin

Short Bio: I was born in Toronto in 1931 to a wonderful mother who divorced shortly before my birth. I owe a great deal of my success to her. I am Jewish but not at all religious, yet my culture plays an important part of my personality. I attended Harbord Collegiate and U. of T. Faculty of Pharmacy. A unique mail-order pharmacy was the first of my endeavours in the profession, followed by many stores throughout Ontario. I have a loving wife, 3 children and grand-children and I am now retired from pharmacy. But what do I write about? Everything! My topics are funny, serious, whimsical, timely, outrageous, inspiring, and inventive. I promise that if you take the time to read any one of these topics – you will not be sorry.
