PRO-ISRAEL-BECAUSE IT IS FAIR

Why do I consider myself Pro-Israel. It is not because I am a Jew or because I support Israel on most issues.  It is because supporting a Jewish State is the least I can do after the treatment of my people for the last 2000 years. Anti-Semitism is as prevalent now as before the second world war without the killings.

There are nearly 200 member states of the United nations. Why is this little state of approximately 7,000,000 people  considered illegitimate . Why? Why? Why? It makes no logical sense. If a person, or a state or a religion does not accept a Jewish state they are not Pro-Israel. By the same token if a group supports the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS), and is seeking a democratic one-state solution these hypocrites are not Pro-Israel. Israel is a democratic country, as no other in the middle east, and allows all its citizens to vote. The world cannot tell the Israelis what is best for them, because if the state falls, for whatever reason, there will be no help from anybody.

Israel is not judged by the same standards as other states. Israel`s achievements are never celebrated except by other Jews, but only its imperfections are trumpeted far and wide. Israel is not perfect, and can never be perfect, because the Israelis are humans and all humans are imperfect. If you are not for Israel, as a democratic Jewish state, equal to all other states in the world you are not PRO-ISRAEL

Name: Murray Rubin

Short Bio: I was born in Toronto in 1931 to a wonderful mother who divorced shortly before my birth. I owe a great deal of my success to her. I am Jewish but not at all religious, yet my culture plays an important part of my personality. I attended Harbord Collegiate and U. of T. Faculty of Pharmacy. A unique mail-order pharmacy was the first of my endeavours in the profession, followed by many stores throughout Ontario. I have a loving wife, 3 children and grand-children and I am now retired from pharmacy. But what do I write about? Everything! My topics are funny, serious, whimsical, timely, outrageous, inspiring, and inventive. I promise that if you take the time to read any one of these topics – you will not be sorry.
